Gold Star family members of the late U.S. Navy SEAL Billy Wayne Machen pose for a group photo in front of Naval Special Warfare Group ONE during a visit to the Silver Strand Training Complex in Imperial Beach, Calif. Machen holds a rich legacy in the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community; he was the first SEAL killed in action during the Vietnam War. The legacy of NSW’s impact during Vietnam remains the bedrock of the community, solidifying its reputation as experts in maritime special operations.
